Howdy Pardners. Found DeleD 3D software by accident and thought I'd give it a try. I've been using the software that comes with Half-Life, 'Worldcraft', now called 'Hammer'. This does everything I want but is linked with Half-Life which basically is saying that I have to have the game cd in my cd rom drive to use it. I'm assuming this software runs on it's own engine.... that asside, my question is this... is there a tutorial (or tutorials) that will help me make a simple room, four walls, maybe a window and then a door. Finishing off by showing how to texture. I'm asking this cos this is how I learnt to use 'Hammer'... I may be wrong but the tutorials I looked at in the tutorial section seem to be fairly advanced... for those who know there way around DeleD! Please advise this ol' cowboy.....Billy |

Hi there Billy, welcome!
Indeed, the first thing you could do is check out the Tutorials forum of this board, as you've done already. It contains a number of very usefull tips and tricks. For example, you might like this:

To create a simple room is easy. Select the cube primitive and draw it in the top view by clicking and dragging the mouse. Do this for all your 4 walls. Then, you can select these cubes by using SHIFT+leftmouse. You can then play with the different Edit modes (vertex, edge, polygon, face, object) which all come with their own set of commands.
Putting a texture onto the objects is done automatically. If you want another texture, simple select the material of your choice in the Material picker.
I advice you to check out the Help file of DeleD. All keyboard+mouse commands are summarized in there on a single page. Hope this helps! |
