I've been tinkering with:

And thought it would be cool to create an 8 sided cylinder to merge into some of the extruded cube. Problem I have run into is the snap to grid doesn't seem to function on the cylinder, does snap to not work on non-cube primitives? |

Cube is the only primitive that can snap by default and not lose it's shape.
If you want to snap something else, right click with it selected, and choose a different snapping mode for it in the object's properties. _________________
