|
|
Since I'm not the only person having this problem, I am giving it it's own thread.
I have followed the tutorial Here (deled wikki)
I am at the point titled "Assign primitives to the skeleton ". No matter what I do, I cannot highlight both the bone and the object. If I select the bone, then select the object (ctrl/shift/click) the bone unhighlights.
Here are the steps I did:
1. Made the model. (duhh. )
2. set a joint.
3. set a second joint making a bone between the two.
Shows bones and model
4. Select the bone
here's the pic
5. clicked "assign"
6. control/shift/clicked on object
Clickied
As you can see, there is nothing changing colors, nothing highlighted, nothing happenin.
I can rotate the bone all I want. It doesn't move the model at all.
Any clues? _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

This happen to me. I had to restart the computer to even get it to work.
1.Restart the pc.
2.Make Joints.
3.After making the joints go to Assign in the Geometry toolbox.
4.Click joint in the Assign Properties Box.
5.Shift Click one of the balls.
6.Click Primitives in the Assign Properties Box.
7. Shift select the object in one of the view screens (not the 3d textured screen) and make sure you get all the object in the selection box.
8. Click ok in the Assign Properties Box.
9. The modul should light up with all its vertices. |

Well, I got the skeleton in and assigned. (had to remove the second bone. I don't need it for this model)
I got an animation assigned. I even got it animating. (short video)
Now, I'm going to have to delete that last frame and redo it as my model goes one way until it reaches frame 15, then turns around and goes backwards from there. Not what I intended, but that's ok. I can redo that.
Thanks for your help.
Gahhh! I hate animating. Ok, enough ranting. Why does my model insist on rotating the proper direction until the first keyframe, then rotate backwards to the next? I'm still following the tutorial in the wikki. I thought the reason was that I followed it letter by letter. (create keyframe at frame 1, then move slider to the end and set keyframe again.) I added a keyframe in the middle to give the direction of the rotation I wanted. That resulted in my model rotating properly for the first half, but rotated the opposite direction for the second half. I started over with my backup and set the first keyframe, then moved the slider to the center frame, rotated my model, then set keyframe. Moved the slider to the last frame, rotated the model, set keyframe. Again, it works like it's supposed to for the first half of the frames, but rotates backwards for the second half.
I am going to go completely bald. How do I get this thing to rotate properly all the way around without reversing direction? _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

You don't need that frame in the middle of the animation. Here's what you can try:
- set the first frame to a keyframe using the menu option for this
- goto the last frame and rotate your bone 360 degrees
This makes sure your model rotates from the first to the last frame.
Note: the last step automatically sets the last frame to be a keyframe for you. You don't need to use the menu option for that.
Let me know if this works for you! _________________ Check out Figuro, our online 3D app! More powerful 3D tools for free. |

That did nothing. When I play the animation, the wheel doesn't move at all. I hate animating. I may/may never get this figured out. I have tried to learn how to animate in milkshape, but those don't work eather, so don't feel bad.
Edit:
Jeroen, after deleting the animation, then adding it back, your method Worked Perfectly

There's a video about the animated lamp I made here and I will make more videos in the future. We need that YouTube channel.
Trucker: glad to see you've got it working! Indeed, creating a new animation is sometimes a good idea. A new animation gives you a fresh set of frames to work with. _________________ Check out Figuro, our online 3D app! More powerful 3D tools for free. |
